Semester 1/ePortfolio Nikola-Maria Anastassiades

For lack of a better way to begin. Hello and Welcome to my Blog and ePortfolio. This blog contains much of what I have learnt over this semester puts it on display in full effect. I have enjoyed many of the Authors we’ve studied, especially Charles Dickens’ work. As a result of the study of the authors and their works this semester, I also have enjoyed a chance to understand some of their experiences, interest and concerns. Through my studies, I come to realize that much of what they are able to convey relates to me and my own context. Through this I was able to more efficiently answer the blog questions, both critical and creative. By understanding and relating to each authors experiences, concerns or interest I have a better sense of their themes and techniques as such this increases my ability to critically examine their work follow their assumed motivations behind their different works and adapt to their specific styles throughout the specifically creative blog posts. Taking a more organized approach to the blogging this semester, it proves to be a better practice to both my critical and creative styles of writing.

  1. Nice introduction to your ePortfolio overall in terms of its proposed content, but there is a need for more careful editing before you post up on-line. Academic Skills can help here. Run entries past them before posting up…

    * … what I have learnt over this semester puts it on display in full effect. = what I have learnt over this semester AND puts it on display TO full effect. [ conjunction and prepositions. See http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/594/01/ ]
*each authors experiences = each author’s experiences [‘s or s’ – Apostrophe- if there is a meaning of ownership ( the boy’s apple/ the boys’ apples) then you need an apostrophe. See http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/621/01/. But don’t use apostrophe s for normal plurals!!!]
*…their themes and techniques as such this increases my ability = …their themes and techniques. As such this increases my ability…. [New sentence required here. You should also explore http://owl.english.purdue.edu/exercises/5/%5D
